Kendrick was born right here in Salt Lake City, and from a very young age developed a strong love for music, especially the piano. He started piano lessons when he was 7 years old and it soon became clear that he “just had a knack for it”. By the time he was 9 or 10 he knew that he wanted to be a musician. “Garth Brooks was my musical idol back then”, he explains. “I even asked for a cowboy hat and guitar for my birthday one year.”
Kendrick got over his country fixation by the time he was 11 or 12 and discovered an artist that would shape his musical destiny for good- Billy Joel. “My piano teacher had me learn a Billy Joel song for my lesson one week. She even bought me the album so I could hear how the song actually went. I was instantly hooked!”. Kendrick's passion for the music is evident in his playing. Comments like “Man, you sound more like Billy Joel than Billy Joel does” are not uncommon.
Kendrick's repertoire isn't limited to Billy Joel, however. His song range extends anywhere from The Beatles to AC/DC to Ray Charles, and anything in between. Kendrick loves what he does and is delighted to be at Keys On Main.
